Alumni programming is essential for building lasting connections between alumni and their alma mater, creating a supportive and engaged community. It fosters a sense of belonging, facilitates lifelong learning, and promotes the exchange of knowledge and experiences. Alumni programs also encourage continued involvement, from mentoring students to contributing to the institution’s growth and success. Ultimately, it helps build a vibrant, resource-rich network that benefits both individuals and the school.
Mentor Program
The SPH Mentor Program offers a valuable opportunity for alumni to give back and make a meaningful impact on the next generation of public health leaders. Serving over 300 mentor and mentee pairs annually, the program pairs experienced professionals with students for guidance, support, and career development. By becoming a mentor, alumni can help shape the future of public health and inspire the growth of emerging talent in the field.
This program is led by the Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement.
Alumni Ambassadors
Alumni Ambassadors are SPH’s most active and engaged alumni volunteers. Alumni Ambassadors play a vital role in supporting admissions, career development, and alumni programming by volunteering their time and sharing their expertise. Ambassadors are expected to participate in at least three volunteer activities each year, such as attending SPH events, serving on panels, engaging with prospective students, and participating in community service initiatives.
This program is led by the Associate Chief Advancement Officer.
Alumni Reunions
Planning a class reunion is a wonderful way for SPH alumni to reconnect, celebrate achievements, and strengthen lifelong connections. While reunions are organized and led by alumni, SPH provides guidance, essential planning steps, and helpful resources to support alumni in coordinating a successful and memorable event.
This program is led by the Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement.
Alumni Awards
The SPH Alumni Awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of SPH alumni who demonstrate exceptional leadership, innovation, and dedication to advancing public health. Honorees are recognized at various stages of their careers for their contributions to the field and their impact on communities locally and globally. The awards are presented annually at the SPH Alumni Awards Celebration, providing an opportunity to honor those who inspire change and drive meaningful progress in public health. Nominations are open every February.
Alumni Awards are reviewed by the SPH Alumni Society Engagement Committee and led by the Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement.
Alumni Card Writing Campaign
The Alumni Card Writing Campaign invites alumni to share their personal experiences and insights about their time at the School of Public Health by writing cards to prospective students. These messages offer valuable perspectives and encouragement for students who are considering where to pursue their graduate studies. By participating in this campaign, alumni play an essential role in helping prospective students make informed decisions about their future education.
This program is in partnership with SPH Admissions, led from Advancement by the Associate Chief Advancement Officer.
