The Office of Research (OoR) manages initiatives to promote research grant proposal development, including comprehensive grant submission support through the SWEEP Program—Scientific Writing, Editing, External Review, and Production (graphics design).
SWEEP provides technical services to enhance both the narrative quality and visual presentation of proposals. The program also coordinates and covers the cost of these services for all SPH faculty serving as Principal Investigators on external grant proposals.
The OoR has a finite number of resources during FY26 to support the program. This, and the grant development timeline, will impact the number of faculty that can be accommodated in any given week depending on the number and types of requested services.
Faculty interested in participating are asked to complete the SWEEP Intake Form before services can begin. The form helps identify which services will be needed, and allows OoR to determine eligibility to participate and manage the service schedule. OoR will respond within 2-3 days with the status of the requested components and a proposed timeline. Please note that the OoR reserves the right to prioritize a junior faculty or resubmission and/or large grant such as a Center or University grant ahead of other proposal support requests.
GPS (Grant Preparation Success) Program—AY 2025-2026
The SWEEP GPS program, led by Dr. Rachel Widome, supports grant development writing through a 12 session, bi-weekly fall and spring cohort of 12 researchers with discussion of timely topics, 1:1 consultation, and quiet writing time.
This compliments the SPH Office of Faculty Affairs Writing Hunkers held five times per year. Applications will be announced in the SPHere.
