Tuition Benefits
U of M faculty and staff can use the Regents Scholarship Program to pursue undergraduate, graduate, and professional courses. Employees who hold a 75-100% time appointment for the entire semester in which the course is taken may receive free or reduced tuition. You must complete the Request for Regents Scholarship form each term.
Learn more about Tax Implications of Regents Scholarship Program and see if you qualify for an Exclusion of Education Benefits as Working Condition Fringe. This exclusion might be available when:
- An employee uses the Regents Scholarship Program for graduate level courses with a value in excess of $5,250 that would normally be included in taxable income, or
- An employee takes a course at a non-University of Minnesota system education institution and the University is reimbursing the employee for the cost.
