Writing Hunkers

The Office of Faculty Affairs (OFA) organizes Writing Hunkers each academic year to support SPH faculty and postdoctoral scholars working on grant proposals and manuscripts.

Writing Hunkers provide a structured, distraction-free environment that combines dedicated writing time, peer accountability, and light-touch coaching to help participants make meaningful progress on their work.

What to Expect

Each Writing Hunker includes a consistent daily structure designed to support productivity and momentum:

  • Guided goal-setting at the start of each day
  • Extended, quiet writing blocks
  • Group lunch to build community and accountability
  • End-of-day check-ins to reflect on progress and set next steps

OFA hosts are available throughout the session for impromptu one-on-one consultations to discuss writing challenges, review drafts, or provide feedback.
