The Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs (ADFA) meets twice each academic year with SPH leadership to discuss and recommend faculty for University of Minnesota and external/national awards. SPH regularly nominates faculty for a range of prestigious awards to recognize exceptional work and contributions, enhance faculty members’ academic reputation and standing, and strengthen SPH’s prominence and position within the University and nationally.

The Office of Faculty Affairs coordinates the school-level award nomination process and works with division heads on University of Minnesota and external/national awards, including:

• Academies for Excellence
• American Public Health Association (APHA)
• Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH)
• University Awards

Self-Nominations

SPH faculty may self-nominate for multiple awards and submit nominations for awards in either the spring or fall award cycle.

• Spring award submission deadline: Friday, October 16, 2026, at 12 p.m. CST
• Fall award submission deadline: The 2027 nomination window will open in spring 2027. Self-nominations submitted before the nomination window opens will be retained for consideration.
