Faculty Awards Nominations
The Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs (ADFA) conducts meetings twice per academic year with school leadership to recommend faculty members eligible for university and external/national awards. SPH regularly nominates its faculty members for diverse awards for three key purposes. These include recognizing individuals for exceptional work and contributions, enhancing their academic reputation and status, and boosting SPH’s prominence and its position both at the university and across the country.
The Office of Faculty Affairs manages the overall submission process and works with division heads on these UMN and external/national awards:
- Academies for Excellence
- American Public Health Association (APHA)
- Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH)
- University Awards
Monthly Junior Faculty Luncheons
The Monthly Junior Faculty Luncheons are informal opportunities for SPH tenure track and contract (term) assistant and associate professors to engage in meaningful interactions with colleagues across the divisions. The faculty delve into pertinent topics for their roles, e.g., current public health trends and share their unique expertise with peers. Additionally, these gatherings offer a chance to learn from guest lecturers in key areas identified by the faculty, enhancing an environment of cross-disciplinary collaborations. The luncheons are held on the first Thursday of the month and are facilitated both in-person and via Zoom.
