SPHere Newsletters

SPHere is the official School of Public Health newsletter. Two versions of SPHere are published: one for faculty/staff and another for students.

Distribution

SPHere is sent via email at 7 a.m. CST on Mondays.

It is published biweekly on Mondays. If you are currently not receiving SPHere but want to be added to the list, email sphnews@umn.edu.

Submission

Content includes human resources information, student opportunities, news, courses, events, published research, and weekly headlines.

Submit items to SPHere by the end of the day Tuesday for publication in the following week’s newsletter. You will be notified that your item was received and when it will be appearing.

For questions, contact the SPHere editor at sphnews@umn.edu.

Submission Guidelines

  • Submissions may be edited for length, style, tone, and consistency at the discretion of the editor.
  • Brevity is key. SPHere blurbs are, on average, about 30 words and rarely longer than 50 words.
  • Items must have a link for more information.
  • Entries are included once by default.
    • Items can be repeated up to three times, but only if requested.
    • News items that appear under student opportunities (such as scholarships, conference opportunities, etc) will be repeated until the submission deadline passes.
  • Photos will be used at the discretion of the editor.
  • Information not relevant to the SPH community will not be included.

Digital Signs

SPH has three digital signs: Mayo entrance outside the Dean’s office; 3rd floor of WBOB; and student SPHere lounge.

These signs are designed and managed by SPH Communications and provide a great opportunity to publicize SPH events, news, and announcements.

Submit your event or announcement to display on the SPH digital signs.

University Brief

University Brief is distributed on Wednesdays and is published by University Relations. View Brief Alerts to learn what you need to know this week.
