Educational Policy Committee (EPC)

EPC Purpose

The Educational Policy Committee shall be responsible for studying and making recommendations to the Dean regarding modification of or additions to the School of Public Health Educational Policies and education issues of school-wide importance, including but not limited to periodic review of core area education requirements for the School of Public Health, review and monitoring of existing courses, approval of proposed courses, review of proposed degree programs and providing a forum for negotiating course requirement issues.

Meetings are held on the second Monday of the month, from 12:00pm to 1:30pm via Zoom.

Committee Composition

The membership shall consist of one faculty member for each cluster of School of Public health and Graduate School programs plus one student representative. Other significant educational activities may be represented as the Educational Policy Committee shall decide. Vacancies will be filled through appointment by the Dean upon recommendation of the respective program director, directors of graduate studies, and a student senate representative.

EPC Curriculum Subcommittee

The Curriculum Subcommittee is charged with providing leadership for the development and implementation of all new undergraduate and graduate courses and programs. The subcommittee will review program and course proposals for learning objectives to meet educational goals, content, instructional hours, competencies, integration of themes, provide oversight to ensure academic standards are met, review for overlap and redundancy, etc. The subcommittee serves in an advisory capacity to the SPH Educational Policy Committee to recommend approval, concerns, additional recommendations, etc.

Meetings are held on the first Monday of the month, from 9:30am to 11:00am via Zoom.

Subcommittee Composition

The Curriculum Subcommittee consists of program directors and directors of graduate studies representing the various programs, and SPH staff appropriate to the subcommittee’s responsibility.
