Introduction to PEAK

June 17, 2025

Dear SPH Community,

The School of Public Health is among the University units that make up Phase 3 of the PEAK Initiative—a systemwide effort to increase equity, improve consistency, and create growth opportunities in Finance and Human Resources services.

Introducing the SPH Transition Team

To lead this important work, we’ve established the SPH Transition Team — a group of school leaders who will guide planning, engagement, and communication throughout the process. Over the coming months, they will work closely with the PEAK Project Office to understand and shape how these changes will impact our school and our people.

Understanding What’s Ahead

We know there are many questions about PEAK. As we learn more, we will share updates regularly in the weeks and months ahead.

Recently, the SPH Transition Team attended a kickoff event where they received an overview of the future service model for Finance and HR. This new model will realign services under a centralized approach.

The next phase, called “Process Discovery,” will involve mapping our current processes and analyzing how we can work most effectively with shared service teams, or “operations centers.” This stage will require time and participation from team members through meetings, workshops, surveys, and other activities.

Impact on Roles and Opportunities

As work transitions into the new model, some roles will shift. Affected staff will have the opportunity to join specialized shared service teams or, where possible, adjust their current roles based on increased capacity. More details will emerge in the coming months to support thoughtful decision making.

Commitment to Transparency and Two-Way Communication

This month, the SPH Transition Team will begin conversations with the PEAK Project Office about how the transition will affect individuals within our school. While it is still early to provide specific details, please know that understanding and supporting our people remains a top priority.

We recognize that change brings questions and concerns. Alongside the PEAK Project Office, we are committed to transparent communication to ensure visibility, clarity, and informed choices throughout this process.

Thank you to the SPH Transition Team for leading this critical work. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to any member of the team.
